Valentine’s Day In Islam

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

“In the name of Allah the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.”

It is a well known fact that Valentine’s Day originates from Paganism & later on evolved into a Christian practice.

The Prophet ﷺ has told us: “The one who imitates a nation is from them.” (Abu Dawood)

Moreover, this day is commonly celebrated amongst couples involved in a haraam relationship. Why would we want to associate & imitate those involved in the great sin of Zina (fornication) ? A sin so severe that Allah ﷻ has mentioned in the Quran in Surah Al – Isra , Ayah 32, “And do not even go close to Zina. Indeed it is truly a shameful deed and an evil way”.

Islam not only encourages expressing your love for your spouse, but it is also an act of ibadaah & great reward. Why pick one day to tell your spouse you love them? Engage in this Ibaadah daily! Suprise & spoil your spouse with gifts, date nights, long drives, romantic walks, quality time together even if it’s just talking etc. throughout the entire year.

Don’t fall into their trap of making you waste money. Expressing love doesn’t have to be the way it is lavishly shown on social media, with a bunch of 100 roses & extremely expensive gifts & set ups. Do it with sincerity, for the sake of Allah ﷻ & watch your relationship bloom. Inshā’Allāh .

The trend of posting these intimate & special moments on social media, even on a normal day has become so common, that it leads to people comparing their marriages, looking elsewhere & the most dangerous of all, attracting the evil eye. Remember everything is not what it seems. It’s easy to post something but be living something completely different. It just takes one jealous eye / thought to ruin everything, in ways you could have never ever imagined.

Beautiful things are kept private.

Precious things are kept hidden.

Protect yourself, protect your marriage.

As for this new concept of Galentines day, people may argue that it’s on a completely different day & it’s the celebration of something permissible- friendship between girls. But why associate yourself with a concept that comes from Valentine’s Day? Is your friendship limited to one day? Again, don’t fall into their marketing trap! You don’t need to be told a specific day to enjoy the company of your friends. Get together with your girlies, have a pretty dinner set up if you really want without wastage, exchange gifts- it increases love, have a pamper session etc. Do it often! Do it with sincerity, mention the name of Allah ﷻ in your gatherings . Make your gatherings a means of attaining Allah ﷻ pleasure & make it one that is surrounded by the company of the angels.

With the current affairs going on around the world, we should have come to the realisation by now regarding how much is in the control of the hands of the Zionists. Now is definitely the time to stop being puppets to them & stop giving them our money in the name of “love”. They make billions on the 14th of February. It’s really not as innocent as we think it is. As believers we should be able to recognise these plots.
