
بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
“In the name of Allah the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.”
There are 14 places in the quraan, whereby after reciting the ayah or by listening to someone praying the ayah, it is waajib (necessary) to do sajdah. This is called Sajdah Tilaawah .
Method
1. After making the intention of Sajdah Tilaawah, in the state of Wudhu stand up and say: اللّٰهُ أَكْبَر without raising the hands.
2.Then go straight down into Sajdah and recite سُبْحَانَ رَبِّىَ الأَ عْلَى three times.
3. Arise out of Sajdah and whilst standing up say;اللّٰهُ أَكْبَر.
There is no Salaam after Sajdah Tilaawah.

Rulings regarding Sajdah Tilaawah
Ruling No 1: One should try to perform the Sajdah Tilaawah as soon as possible. In the case that one forgot, it would remain necessary (waajib) to perform it.
Ruling No 2: The same conditions that need to be met for salaah will apply for Sajdah Tilaawah.
Ruling No 3: Although it is better to begin and end this sajdah from a standing position, it is also correct to perform it from the jalsah (sitting) position.
Ruling No 4: Sajdah Tilaawah is prohibited whilst the sun is rising, precisely at noon, and from the time the colour of the sun changes before sunset until the sun has fully set. (10/15 mins at each occasion).
Ruling No 5: Sajdah Tilaawah will be waajib upon reciting and listening to the ayah of sajdah.
Ruling No 6: If a woman hears the ayah of sajdah in the state of haidh (menses) / nifaas (bleeding after childbirth), then sajdah tilawah will not be waajib on her. If however her bleeding has stopped & she has not had a ghusl yet, then Sajdah Tilaawah will be waajib on her.
Ruling No 7: If one writes the sajdah ayah, then Sajdah Tilaawah will not be waajib.
Ruling No 8: If a person recites the same sajdah ayah many times whilst sitting in the same place, then only one Sajdah Tilaawah will be waajib.
Ruling No 9: If a person recites an ayah of sajdah, then gets busy with some work or moves from the place & then recites the same sajdah ayah again, then 2 sajdahs will be waajib.
Ruling No 10: If the ayah of Sajdah is heard on a tape recorder or played on radio, Sajdah Tilaawah is not necessary. If the recitation is live on Radio, sajdah-e-tilawah is necessary.
Ruling No 11: If the reciter does not move places, however the one listening, moves places, then the person moving, will have to do Sajdah Tilaawah as many times as they move places.
Ruling No 12: It is better to do the Sajdah Tilaawah after reciting the aayat of sajdah. However if one did all fourteen sajdahs at one time after the completion of the entire Qur’aan, it will be valid.
