بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
“In the name of Allah the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.”
Ruling No.1: If one’s husband’s semen releases after ghusl or one’s own semen (for both males and females) before either doing one of the following:
1) Urinating
2) Walking at least 40 steps
3) Sleeping
then one will have to repeat the ghusl.
However, if one of the above three was done and then a person took a bath and thereafter there was a release of semen, it will not be necessary to repeat the bath, but Wudhu will break.
Ruling No.2: It is not necessary to change the bed sheets etc, after intercourse every time if there is no physical impurity on them.
Ruling No.3: If a couple engage in foreplay, but do not have intercourse and neither of them reaches climax, then ghusl will not be waajib (necessary) upon either of them.
Ruling No.4: If a couple engage in foreplay, but do not have intercourse, however both or either one of them reaches climax, then ghusl will be waajib (necessary) on whoever reaches climax.
Ruling No.5: There is a common misconception that if a couple engages in sexual intecourse multiple times a day or in a week, then it is not waajib (necessary) upon the woman to wet her hair whilst performing ghusl. This is incorrect. Remember if even a place equivalent to one hair remains dry on the body, ghusl will be incomplete. Alhamdulillah we have hair dryers to make things easier. Think of the reward behind it. The act of intercourse with one’s spouse is also an ibadaah (worship). InshaAllah one will be rewarded for having relations with their spouse the halal way, fulfilling their desires & then following the command of Allah by performing ghusl in the manner He has instructed.
Ruling No.6 : A wet dream is when one experiences arousal in their dream. If a man or woman experiences a wet dream and upon waking up they see semen / wetness, only then ghusl will be waajib (necessary). If there was no semen / wetness, ghusl will not be waajib (necessary).
Ruling No.7: If a man or woman does not remember seeing a wet dream, however upon waking up they see wetness then if they believe the fluid could be from an ejaculation / orgasm, then ghusl will be waajib (necessary). If they are sure that the fluid is Mazi (the discharge that exists upon being aroused), then ghusl will not be waajib.
Ruling No.8: The secretion of semen will necessitate ghusl. Semen (mani) in a woman is thin fluid & slightly yellowish. The secretion of semen will necessitate ghusl . This is the description that is narrated from the Prophet ﷺ : “The water of the man is thick and white, and the water of the woman is thin and yellow.” [Muslim]
Ruling No.9: Pre-coital fluid (mazi) is a thin clear liquid which is discharged at the time of arousal without ejaculation and it can be secreted without one being aware of it. This only necessitates wudhu not ghusl. If due to arousal a woman has a discharge and she is not aware of the discharge until she sees it or feels the wetness, the discharge would most probably be mazi.
Ruling No.10: In short, if discharge is accompanied by an orgasm, then it would be semen, and therefore ghusl would become waajib (necessary).
Ruling No.11: Vaginal discharge is white / clear & sticky or stretchy and varies throughout the month. This has been discussed previously.
