بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
“In the name of Allah the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.”
1. After Sunset, leave from Arafah to Muzdalifah.
2. Do not perform Maghrib or ‘Isha in Arafah or on the way to Muzdalifah. It is waajib (compulsory) to perform Maghrib and ‘Isha together in Muzdalifah at ‘Isha time.
• If one is delayed by traffic or any other reason and is unable to reach Muzdalifah before sub’h saadiq, then they should perform the two Salaat wherever they may be before sub’h saadiq.
• The two Salaat will be combined whether performed individually or in congregation.
• It is Sunnah Mu’akkadah (emphasised Sunnah) to remain in Muzdalifah until sub’h saadiq.
• Wuqoof (stay) of Muzdalifah is waajib (compulsory) and its time begins from sub’h saadiq and ends at sunrise. If one spent even a little portion of this time in Muzdalifah, he will be absolved of this obligation.
•If one left Muzdalifah before sub’h saadiq or arrived into Muzdalifah after sunrise, he will not be absolved of this obligation.
3. Collect 70 pebbles & put them safely in a bag / pouch. (If one is going to leave Minaa after pelting the jamaraat on 12th Zul Hijjah, they will need a total of 49 pebbles, and if one is staying over to pelt the jamaraat on the 13th Zul Hijjah too, then they will need a total of 70.
10th Zul Hijjah: 7 pebbles
11th Zul Hijjah: 21 pebbles
12th Zul Hijjah: 21 pebbles
13th Zul Hijjah: 21 pebbles
• It is permissible to collect these pebbles from places other than Muzdalifah too. However, one should not pick them from near the jamaraat or unclean places.
3. Perform Fajr Salaah as soon as the time commences.
• There is no ‘Eid Salaat upon the Hajees.
4. Leave for Mina few minutes before or after sunrise .
5. Then perform Ramee. This is the pelting of the large Shaitaan only (7 pebbles). This is waajib (compulsory). Failure will result in dam.
• It is bid’ah (innovation) to pelt the other two Shaitaa on the 10th of Dhul Hijjah.
• The time for ramee on 10th Dhul Hijjah starts at sub’h saadiq and ends at sub’h saadiq of the following day.
•The method of Ramee- Throw seven pebbles, one at a time, with the index finger and the thumb of the right hand reciting bismillaahi allaahu akbar each time.
• If all seven pebbles are thrown together, it will be counted as one pebble only.
• If the pebbles fall near the pillar, and not on it, the ramee will be valid. However if it falls far from the pillar, (i.e. out of the wall surrounding the pillar) the ramee will be invalid.
6. Then Nahr (sacrificing the animal). This is waajib (compulsory).
• One can sacrifice the animal any time after ramee until the sunset of 12th Dhul Hijjah. However, those performing Hajj Qiraan and Hajj Tamattu’ will not be able to shave their heads until the sacrifice is completed.
7. Followed by Halaq / Qasr (shaving / trimming of the hair). This is waajib (compulsory).
• For men, shaving is more virtuous than trimming.
• Women will trim slightly more than an inch from the end of their hair plaits. It is haraam for them to shave their heads.
• After Halaq / Qasr, all the restrictions of ihraam will end except for sexual relationship. This will be lifted as soon as one has performed tawaafe ziyaarat.
• It is waajib for those performing Hajj Qiraan or Hajj Tamattu to perform 5.6 & 7. Failure will result in dam.
• For those performing Hajj Ifraad, nahr (animal sacrifice) is not waajib. It is mustahab. Therefore, they can have their heads shaved as soon as they have completed the ramee (pelting).
8. Tawaaf-e-Ziyaraah.
•After performing tawaafe ziyaarat the restriction on sexual relationship will be lifted too.
• Then perform Sa’ee. If sa’ee has already been performed after tawaafe qudoom (by those performing Hajj Qiraan and Hajj Ifraad) or after putting on the ihraam of Hajj (by those performing Hajj Tamattu’) then one will not need to repeat the sa’ee again.
• The time for tawaafe ziyaarat begins at sub’h saadiq on 10th Dhul Hijjah and ends at sunset on 12th Dhul Hijjah. It is more virtuous to perform it on the 10th Dhul Hijjah.
•It is waajib to perform tawaafe ziyaarat before sunset of the 12th Dhul Hijjah. Delay will result in dam.
•A woman in the state of menstruation will delay her tawaaf until she becomes pure. In this case, there is no dam upon her.
• Tawaafe ziyaarat is fardh, therefore Hajj will remain incomplete without it.
• A menstruation woman can delay this tawaaf but it will still be fardh (compulsory) upon her. If she returns home without performing tawaafe ziyaarat, her Hajj will remain incomplete and sexual relationship will remain unlawful until she returns to Makkah and performs tawaafe ziyaarat.
• Tawaafe ziyaarat may be performed before, after, or in between the ramee, nahr and halaq. However, it is Sunnah to perform it after halaq.
• If one performed tawaafe ziyaarat before halaq, nothing from the restrictions of ihraam will be lifted until halaq.
9. Then offer 2 raka’at, make du’aa and go to the well of Zamzam and drink to one’s fill.
10. Next perform sa’ee. (If sa’ee was performed already, then one does not not perform it again.)
11. Thereafter return to Minaa.
•It is Sunnah to spend the nights in Minaa. To spend the nights elsewhere is makrooh (disliked).
• Remember the nights spent in Mina are more virtuous than the nights spent in a comfort hotel. Hajj is not about comfort. The struggles faced during these days is what will gain one more reward & have a greater effect on one’s heart which will Inshā’Allāh help one change & return as a better person .
