Entering Makkah & The Haram

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

“In the name of Allah the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.”

• Recite istighfaar & talbiyah as much as possible on your way to Makkah.

• Enter Makkah with utmost respect & humility, reciting the talbiyah.

• Enter Al Masjidul Haram with utmost respect & humility with the right foot saying:

بِسْمِ اللهِ والصَّلاةُ والسَّلامُ عَلٰى رَسُوْلِ اللهِ اللّٰهُمَّ افْتَحْ لَيْ اَبْوابَ رَحْمَتِكَ

Bismillaahi wassalaatu wassalaamu alaa rasoolillaah. Allaahummaftah lee abwaaba rahmatik

“In the name of Allah. May the Peace and Salutations (of Allah) be upon the Messenger of Allah. O Allah, open for me the doors of Your Mercies”.

• The moment when you see the Ka’abah for the first time is very precious. It is a time when du’aas are certainly accepted. After entering the haram, keep the gaze lowered until you reach the Mataf (where Tawaaf takes place). Then with utmost humility & awe lift your gaze & look at the Ka’abah. Recite three times:

اللهِ أَكْبَرُ. اللهِ أَكْبَرُ . لَآ اِلَهَ اِلَّا اللهِ

Allāhu akbar. Allāhu akbar. Lā ilāha illa-llāh.

Allah is the Greatest. Allah is the Greatest. There is no God except Allah.

Then send durood upon the Prophet ﷺ & make du’aa for all your needs, your family , friends & the whole Ummah. (Please remember me in your du’aas too)

• Perform as many nafl Tawaafs as possible. There is no nafl ibadaah in Makkah that is more virtuous than Tawaaf. One can perform all other nafl ibadaah anywhere else in the world but Tawaaf can only be performed in Makkah.

• Try to perform nafl Tawaafs dedicating the reward to our beloved Prophet ﷺ, parents, grandparents, teachers, the pious, friends, family & the entire Ummah.

• Perform as many Nafl ‘Umrahs as possible. It is more virtuous to perform nafl Tawaafs than nafl umrahs.

•Spend as much time as you can in the Haram & set yourself a target to finish one Quran at least whilst you are in the blessed lands of Makkah & Medinah.

• When you are out shopping / Ziyarah, remain in dhikr.

• Allocate some time daily to pour your heart out to Allah ﷻ in du’aa. Ask Him for all your spiritual, physical & material needs. Make du’aa for your loved ones & the entire ummah.
