En route to Madinah Munawwarah

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

“In the name of Allah the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.”

“Whoever undertakes a journey specially to visit me, will be my neighbour on the Day of Judgement”. [Bayhaqi]

• As you make your way to the blessed city where our beloved ﷺ resides, renew your intentions. Remind yourself who you are going to visit & that to solely for the pleasure of Allah ﷻ.

• Read up / listen to some Seerah, listen to some permissible Nasheeds (without music), to increase the yearning to visit our Nabi ﷺ.

• Increase in durood, make an intention to not leave any sunnah out & to bring the sunnah into our lives even when we return home. Sunnah prayers are often left out whilst travelling, make an effort to perform them.

• Aim to recite a minimum of 10,000 durood every day of your stay (as advised by the pious / scholars). This could be the most shortest form of durood or any durood that you wish.

• Enter the city with humility & humbleness. Be extra careful not to commit any acts of sins during your stay as this would hurt our beloved ﷺ.

Du’aa when entering Madinah Munawwarah:

اَللّٰهُمَّ هَذَا حَرَمُ نَبِيِّكَ فَاجْعَلْهُ لِيْ وِقَايَةً مِّنَ النَّارِ وَاَمانًا مِّنَ الْعَذَابِ وَسُوْءِ الْحِسَابِ

allahumma hadhā haramu nabiyyika, faj’alhu li wiqāyatam minannāri, wa amānam minal adhābi wasu il hisab.

“Allah, verily this is the sanctuary of Your Nabi. Make it a protection for me from the fire (of Hell) and a safety from punishment and an evil reckoning.”

Note: When planning your trip, try to plan it in a way so that you spend at least eight days in Madinah Munawwarah so that you are able to perform forty salah in Masjid-an-Nabawi. The Prophet said, “He who performs forty salah in my Masjid, in such a way that he does not miss a single salah, Allah prescribes for him freedom from the fire, freedom from punishment and freedom from hypocrisy” (Musnad Al-Imam Ahmad)
